This past summer, we were treated to a several visiting preachers during Rev. Randy’s absence. All brought thoughtful and provocative messages to the Parkwoods congregation. In early August, it was our privilege to welcome Mardi Tindal, Moderator of the United Church of Canada who brought a message of God’s abundant love and hope alive in the church and the world. Loreen Naylor introduced Mardi Tindal, describing her many accomplishments and commitments over many years in the United Church. Mardi was elected 40th Moderator in August 2009 and since that time has travelled across Canada by train and has visited church partners in Haiti, the Philippines, Israel and Palestine. Her chosen theme for her term as Moderator is “Participating in God’s Abundant Healing of Soul, Community and Creation.” Mardi Tindal engaged the Parkwoods congregation with her warmth, her thoughtful message and her commitment to encouraging all people to work together to find creative and faithful ways to care for our neighbour and God’s creation. Mardi was joined by her husband Doug Tindal who is also a professional communicator and together they greeted the congregation following the worship service. It was truly a special gift to the Parkwoods congregation to meet and hear the message of the Moderator, Mardi Tindal. (Thanks to Loreen Naylor for sharing her introductory notes.)
