PARKWOODS U.C. BOOK CLUB

The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 30th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The book we are reading is ”RU” by Kim Thuy.  Available in paperback at Chapters.  All who have read the book are welcome to attend this supper meeting.  We also welcome new members!

‘GOOD GRIEF’

Two sessions with Rev. Randy for those folks who have experienced the death of a loved one.  Friday, May 11th and Friday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Lounge.  Coffee available from 10:45 a.m.

EVA’S PLACE

Eva’s place is a shelter for teens. Item’s needed for young people: shampoo / conditioners, soaps, deodorants, tooth brushes, tooth paste, other personal hygiene items, razors, shaving cream, combs, hair brushes, underwear and socks.

SENIORS SAFETY SEMINAR

The Toronto Police 33 Division’s Crime Prevention Officers held a seminar on safety tips for seniors last Wednesday.  It was a most enlightening afternoon with 32 people participating.  Thank you to Nancy-Jean Nickel, John Horton, Barbara Griffin and Dr. Victor Kireti for helping Parkwoods host this event.

RAYOAK FOOD BANK

Many in our congregation have donated to the Rayoak Food bank and we are grateful for your on-going assistance.  Specific foods are scheduled for donation during the month to ensure the Food Bank has a variety for distribution.

Week 2 Baby Food
Week 3 Dry and/or canned goods, pastas (Mac/Cheese)
Week 4 Sweets - cookies, canned fruits, etc.
Week 5 Cooking oil, condiments (ketchup, mustard, peanut butter)

A cheque payable to Parkwoods United Church in an envelope marked “Rayoak Food Bank” to help with bulk buying is always appreciated.
