Pastoral Care

The Parkwoods Pastoral Care Team was begun in 1986. It was formed as a sub-committee of the Membership Committee with the mission of assisting the ministerial staff by advising them or the church office of anyone they know who have any difficulties due to illness, operations, hospital stays, bereavement or disabilities due to age, falls, accidents or who may just need a friend to talk to.
We have a list that changes frequently, of folks requiring a call. Team members have 2 or 3 of these names and make telephone calls or send notes to stay in touch. Congregational cards, containing cheery notes and many signatures, are mailed out when we feel someone needs special attention or recognition of special occasions or for those who need to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.
Friendly letters, with input by the Ministers, are sent 2 or 3 times a year to keep in touch with our friends who are unable to attend church services on a regular basis.
We would be most happy to invite anyone to join our Team. You would have 1 or 2 folks to be in touch with – a telephone call or some type of contact once or twice a month. You will be pleasantly surprised how good you feel and how much your friendly contact is appreciated.
