Randy was called to Parkwoods United Church as of October, 2010 and continues to relish his work as a congregational minister.
Randy grew up in Alberta, attended the University of Alberta and St. Stephen’s Theological College. While at St. Stephen’s he married Loreen in 1969—and they remain married 48 years later. Randy was ordained by Alberta Conference in 1971.
Randy and Loreen have two children: Christopher, who lives with his wife Jenny in Angus; and, Robyn, who lives in Toronto. Chris owns two Tim Horton’s, and Robyn is a communication officer: Ontario Civil Servants Pension Fund.
Randy served two congregations in Alberta before he, Loreen and their two children served as missionaries in Sierra Leone, West Africa. (1976-1979)
After returning from Africa, Randy served as Conference Staff person for Alberta Conference, with responsibilities for Evangelism, Stewardship and Communication. He also served as Conference Minister for Peace River Presbytery.
In 1983 he was asked to become head of communication for the United Church and this saw the family relocate to Toronto, where Loreen opened a consulting business in human resources, and where the children completed their public school and university studies.
Randy was still serving as head of communication for the United Church, when the Church’s General Secretary died. Randy was appointed to serve as acting General Secretary for a year while the United Church found a new General Secretary.
Once the children had left home, Randy accepted an appointment to serve as head of communication for the National Council of Churches of the USA in New York City. The United Church was a member of the NCC’s Communication Commission at the time.
From 2001 through 2010 he served as General Secretary (c.e.o.) of the World Association for Christian Communication. In 2006 the offices for WACC were moved from London, England to Toronto. The United Church is a founding member of WACC.
All of Randy’s work has been undertaken with the approval of his presbytery and the United Church —thus he has remained a minister in good standing and served as a United Church minister in all of these ministries.
Following his call to Parkwoods, Randy has been active in Toronto Southeast Presbytery where he has served as Chair (2012-2014), past-chair (2014-2015) and Chair of the Nominations Committee (2015-).
Randy and Loreen have been active members of several congregations in Toronto while Randy served in the above administrative ministries. Loreen has chaired Boards and Stewardship & Finance committees of several congregations. She served as the Chair of the Moderator’s Advisory Committee from 2010 to 2012 and is well known in General Council circles for that volunteer work. She is currently on the Toronto Conference Transfer and Settlement Committee.
The Naylor’s live a 5 minute walk from Fairview Mall and have lived there for 30+ years. During those years they were privileged to share the home with four basset hounds (only one at a time!) who most graciously allowed them to also occupy their space. They are currently basset-less.
In his capacity as Voluntary Associate Minister, Bob is able to assist and lead in worship, pastoral care and also stays in touch with the congregation with his friendly visits.
Bob and his wife, Pat, met while students at Sarnia Collegiate and were married in 1962 after Bob graduated in Modern History from Victoria College, University of Toronto. They then had three children and are now the proud grandparents of three grandsons and a granddaughter.
Over a period of 32 years, Bob taught History and was a principal for the Toronto Board of Education. He retired in 1995.
In 1997, Bob graduated from Emmanuel College and was appointed to a three-point rural charge – Kilsyth, Keady and North Derby – serving there for four years. Since then he was appointed to various supply ministry and Intentional Interim Ministry positions in the Toronto area.

Perhaps it would be best to consider our office administrator as our “greatest communicator.” Our church office administrator is our ambassador to the public. She is the first contact people make with Parkwoods United Church. It is the office administrator who answers the telephone, greets people at the office, contacts the “right” person to deal with requests, produces the bulletin for every Worship Service and an endless list of tasks that most don’t even imagine. She sometimes works in the solitude of an empty church building and other times it is like Grand Central Station! She juggles all her tasks and always with a smile
Since 2001, Glory has been the friendly individual who greets you when you contact the Parkwoods United Church office.
