SPECIAL APPEAL FOR REFUGEE FAMILY EXPENSES

With the announcement of the arrival of our Refugee Family, now expected on June 6, we have been reviewing our funds already raised for Parkwoods’ one year of support for the family.

We are acutely aware of the rising cost-of-living, especially for apartment rental which has increased on average 20-30% since we projected our expenses for a refugee family two years ago.  With rising food and shelter costs in mind, we are warmly inviting your help with your donation.

To receive tax relief, please place your cheque in pre-marked envelopes located on refreshment tables at the back of the Sanctuary.

For tax eligibility, please make your cheques out to Parkwoods United Church OR place cash in the pre-labelled envelope and write your name and address or envelope number on the envelope as indicated.

To those Parkwoods members who have so very generously donated to this Refugee Project in the past, and to those who have begun renewing that support, we extend our deep gratitude.

Thank you one and all for your generous support!

PARKWOODS PHOTO DIRECTORY

The current Parkwoods Photo Directory is five years old.  It is time for an update!

On August 16, September 5, 21 and 22, IPC Photo Services will be at the church to take photographs.

Beginning Sunday, June 10, sign-up sheets will be available before and after the service for you to make your appointment.  One appointment is all it takes to have the photo taken and select the one you want in your FREE Photo Directory.  You may also purchase any photos you would like for your personal use, but there is no obligation to do so.

PARKWOODS NAME TAGS

There have been a number of new people attending our Sunday services during the year and we would like to request that you wear your name tags to help them meet our members. If you do not have a Name Tag, the church office will make one for you. You can leave your name on the sheet that is available at the coffee tables after the Sunday worship service.

MILK BAG MATS

We are still collecting washed and dried milk bags. The bags are cut into strips and crocheted or woven into mats. The mats are then shipped to weather ravaged countries for the less fortunate to sleep on. Please don’t put these bags in the garbage, bring them to the church for recycling! There is a box outside the church office marked ‘Milk Bags’ for your contributions.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Whenever you are in the Parkwoods lobby, take a minute to write a prayer request for the coming Sunday in our Prayer Request Book. Recent prayers have included names of those needing specific mention as well as those needs identified for general and inclusive prayers. It is also fitting to include prayers of thanksgiving and for memorial flowers. Prayers for the world/country/city are always appropriate.
